@seank i know youve just gotten a leather jacket (Acreichthys tomentosus ) as have i, and ive been trying to get a realy good photo of the fish but realy battling. I was wondering if you'd like 'shoot out' between the two of us and we try get the best photo we can of the fish, showing natural behaviour. Be it camoflage, or eating aptasia (i wish mine would!) or simply the weird way they swim.

Im battling as I say as mine is extremly shy and i have to shoot from a good distance away, but might be fun with some friendly competition....you game?

go for it bendor....persponally i realy like to see a fish in a reef and not against a back ground like glass or perspex, but maybe you can get a good shot of it:)

I had one for more than 3 years. It died earlier this year.

In the previous smaller tank it never ventured out when I got anywhere close to the tank. Only saw glimpses of him, hiding behind the rockwork.

Then when they all moved to the bigger tank. His personality completely changed. Could stand right in front of the tank and he would swim by. Taking big loops around and around the tank, all over. Not sure why? More space? More fish? Cannot say why he changed that much. Really completely different. But still impossible to take a photo of him. Like a cleaner wrasse. Very difficult.

Good luck, hope you do get a nice picture of him.

No problem Crispin. Just one thing.. You want the fish in the greenish brownish colors it comes out with....lol
Or the brilliant white, mine became today..... Dunno why, and if it is natural, but that fish is now white.
Also, no Aptasia have been touched, not a single piece.... But the mini feather dusters..wel., he took a liking in it.

Another thing. Bare in mind I have to shoot through 20mm ugly green glass.
But will oblige... ;)

there you go

Was very white while MH was on. Will see if I can get home bit earlier tomorrow and if the fish is white again, will take a pic... Did not know they can change color

Not yet. Had a spastic fantastic day. Actually considering buying one. For the aesthetics of it. I think they look awesome. Bit like a leafy dragon seahorse.
...or you can get yourself one of these when you come down south:)
