Popped in at Aquaria this morning to pickup my new nano tank with accessories. Was really impressed with service. My tank is setup and started cycling. I connected all power through a UPS and my tanks runs with all lights and pumps for 4 hours on battery for any power outages. Cant wait until i can add fish:)

What test kits do you recommend? I see there are so many, what are the main things you need to test?

You can buy UPS at any computer store. This one was R900 but you get them alot cheaper. I went for bigger one so i have more time on battery.

I did a test today and got just under 4 hours. Thats with a pump, protein skimmer, cooling fan, and 4 lights. Was really impressed.

awesome setup... I like your live rock.. what rock is it and where did you buy it

Hi
Nice :)
Would be best to move your UPS further away from your tank,
faulty UPS can explode and in general give off heat.
Looks great, good luck :)

I'd be carefull with any U.P.S. as the one you purchased is not a pure sinewave U.P.S., infact it is modified sinewave / stepped square wave. I understood that the waveform mentioned last tens to heat up the windings in a pump and for prolonged use they will eventually burn out.

I'm not trying to be clever or brag, but I work strictly in the U.P.S. industry and it is my daily "bread".

Unfortunately the sinewave systems tends to be MUCH more expensive. Though, I can give a few recommendations from my side of suppliers in S.A. with affordable and reliable systems.

Just my 2 cents worth. Apologies if I have offended, was not my intention.

Not at all. i appreciate it, what do you suggest for backup? Our power has been bad recently and wouldn't like my tank to suffer from this.

If you can afford it (I know I can not!) then look for something like a line-interactive, pure sinewave U.P.S.
It is not necessary for someone to purchase a True Online / Double Conversion U.P.S., too much of an overkill.
I'm even willing to calculate within an approximate 5 mintes what your backup time will be for the given size of the U.P.S. and the equipment you are powering.
APC do sell said systems, but they are rediculously expensive, although good quality.

I have a client who has massive tanks between 1000 to 2000 plus litres about 4 of them in his house who only purchases the True Online systems from me, but he has got the financial backing.

So any help you or someone wants or needs with regards to U.P.S. systems, its they only thing I can confidently assist with, hahaha.
