Beginner tank in slummies

Hi Guys

I started this tank build about a week ago with the help of a colleague from work.
We have just finished filling it with fresh sea water.


I purchased the tank(only) from a fiend of mine here in east London as he needed a shallower tank to grow his frags.


The tank is 380 liters and I have connected a cascade canister which is connected inside the cabinet


I have a reeftek skimmer (1000l) which will soon be running in a sump behind the tank(outside)


The bed consists of Fiji pink aragonite


I have placed some bio rock and basic live rock to start the cycle


Lighting consists of, 4 geisermann T5's and a 250w metal halide fitted to a custom made lid covered with 3mm mirror


I have put a 8 way PVC db board together with 3 digital geser timers to control the lights

pic of the inside, we made a square tube frame, then manufactured a supa wood cabinet and fastened it to the frame with stainless screws etc...

sprayed the supa wood with satin white 2k to match my lounge shelves

got the water in, and the canister running. done some rough scaping with bio rock and 3 pieces of LR. i will wait for the water to clear and the tank to cycle for a few days before adding more LR!

Welcome to MASA, nice tank you got there. What flow pumps are you going to use inside the tank? Or are those holes for a closed loop system?

Shoo, i'm not so sure.

option1: was looking at the tunze pumps 6055 i think? 2 of them with a controller.

option 2: Vortech is also an option although quite pricy, but neat.

option 3: is boyu wm-3, which is 4 pumps and a controller which are well priced and have magnets as an option.

option 4: wait for something second hand.

any ideas will be appreciated!
 
Good weekend to collect water, po4 was 0.03ppm yesterday.

Looks very nice.
 
Very nice looking system...love the cabinet work. Dont wait for the tank to cycle to add more liverock, if the rock isn't cured properly it will restart your cycle so best option is to get all the liverock you plan on using for now in before you start cycling the tank.

Thanks good point, live rock is not easy to get hold of, well nice rock that is.
If you know of anybody wanting to sell some or even a complete system please let me know.
