So here is the start of my new journey, i will start the build this week and hopefully be done in a few days...
Tank:
1250*1000*500 3 sides viewable in starphire, the stand is 1000mm high so that i can keep everything underneath it.

Sump will be a 1200x400x300 in which will be used mostly for acclimation of new corals and fish into the main system. Skimmer will be a Reef Octo 5000 Ext run on a waveline DC 5000L, the return will be via 2 x 32mm pipes on a DC 10000L, with 2 50mm drains. my goal is to keep this low tech and reliable., the lighting will be 3 x Orphek DIF100 XP suspended about 10cm above the tank. for flow i am going to use vortechs, had these for a while and they are the best flow pumps i have used.
I plan to use a Reef Octo Carx and Kalk Reactor, as well as carbon and bio-cubes.

for the biological filtration i will use a Reef Octo zeolite reactor filled with seachem matrix and dosed with prodibio

i will take pics of the build when i start.

i know i stock heavy and trying for a mixed reef so looking at a balancing act...
plan to keep NO3 at 3-4ppm and PO4 around 0.02- 0.03

Nice, following this one.. Skinny overflow?

yes, they dont take up space and simple

Is noise an issue with a skinny overflow? Also, does it not restrict the return pumps flow rate?

i get no noise

How will the stand be designed?

Love the size tank.
straight 50mm tube, you can see it holding up my old sump in the one pic

No man Dallas,I'm confused now :confused1:

What happened to the 3-1 tank?

took it down 2 months ago, i will rebuild it, in the new year

tank was down in a day :)

What's your take on Starphire glass, is it worth the extra $$? The general consensus is that it scratches easily..

if you using LEDs i dont see much difference, and if you stay with 12mm or less glass

@viper357 must seriously think in promoting you to a "How to start a tank Guru" status, as you will be able to help a lot of noobs on how to setup a proper new tank
