agreed, its a glass anenome, best thing to do is kill it as soon as you can. I manged to wipe out 76 over the easter period, its open warfare on aptasia here:)killkanga

I don't think it's aiptasia. Is it open all the time and why did you only notice it now, does it perhaps close when the lights come on?

@459b i only saw it now because its on the side of the frag which faces the back of my tank the pictures i took was after i turned the frag around cos i saw one of the blue tentacles sticking out. the lights on the tank just came off about 30 min ago and it seems that its trying to stretch towards the tv light (i cant keep the room in total darkness) now ive covered the side of the tank with a sheet and it will observe if it will close without any light

these are two pictures i took this morning before i switched on the lights in the tank. it looks like the anemone likes light because it opens only when there is light and when there isn't it stays closed. last night when i switched off the lights on the tank it was stretching towards the glow coming from the TV. i've heard that aptisias are more active in the dark and close during the day. also the zoas which are right next to it dont seem to be affected by its presence.

Not every hitchhiker anemone is aiptasia, and yours does not lok like one. There are thousands of species and not all are bad.
