I have been getting quite a few complaints lately from people both buying and selling things on the forum, complaints such as people placing dibs and then not responding to posts and PM's, people paying for stuff and not receiving it or being made empty promises about shipping etc.

I really hate having to enforce rules so strictly and be the bad person, but Please Note, if you stuff around in the For Sale forum then your access to that section will be removed permanently, without notification and without reason, don't come begging back pleading ignorance or asking for forgiveness. This may sound harsh but due to the amount of complaints coming in lately it's just not funny anymore and is taking up way too much of my time, good people are getting messed around for no valid reason.

Please familiarise yourselves with the rules if you haven't read them yet, and please be considerate of the other person when buying or selling.

With regards to dibs, it's up to the seller, if you place dibs on something ENSURE you are online every couple of hours, it is YOUR responsibility to complete the sale THE SAME DAY that you place the dibs, within reason, if you do not respond to the seller then the seller has all the right to ignore your dibs and put the item back up for sale. Placing dibs on a item and not responding on the same day or even worse for 2 or 3 days is just not on and will ensure your access to that section is removed. Likewise for sellers, if you place an item up for sale, ENSURE you are available 24/7 to deal with dibs and answer questions etc. Do not place an item for sale and then disappear for 3 days.

Thank you for your understanding.

i have on occasion forgotten to subscribe to a dibs i have placed, just a friendly pm from seller would assist as well, unless if you can setup when a post is made in the for-sale section that the subscribe button is always selected?

I'm automatically subscribed to any thread I post on, is that not an automatic feature?

Nope under your user control panel you can change these settings, either on or off :)

gMan I think it is as any thread I reply in I always get an email when another post has been made in that thread.

Ok, I've never changed that setting since the day I signed up so assumed it was automatic. I do know that under "Thread Tools" you can un-subscribe from a thread if you wish...

good one dean...

If i can ask that the sellers perhaps make use of the tagging function aswell.. it will help to notify the buyer just in case he forgot he placed dibs..

It's not for the seller to chase people that have willy nilly placed dibs on his items and then hears no more from them, once you have placed your dibs it is without a doubt your responsibility to ensure you continue with that sale until it is finalised. Once you have placed dibs you must immediately make contact with the seller to confirm details, arrange payment and delivery/collection, or to at least inform him/her that you need some time to check fitment or compatibility etc.

wouldn't phrase it as willy nilly, I've made 5 dibs in one day, I'm human and i do forget... I see myself as the customer, if the seller wants to sell his goods he'd be considered as a supplier, and we all know the relationship between customer and supplier.

So is this how we should approach it from now on? I honestly do forget at times

I fully agree on the enforcement, but maybe just give the person lets 2 days to reply first before he is locked out.

I agree with @viper357 on this one.
In the past I have guys placing dibs on stuff and then you never hear from them again.
Even went as far as closing my for sale thread and had to re-open as the "dibsters" simply vanish into thin air when you try and contact them.

Same goes for stuff I gave away for free.
Some guy puts dibs on it and a month later I get a text message asking if he can come and collect....
Sorry mate, you honestly expect me to sit on the stuff for a month purely because you placed dibs on something.

I think sellers like @rakabos have the right attitude.
First guy there with the cash gets it or we are all going to end up chasing buyers who have "dibs" on something.

@Wes;
How long you think a shop is going to keep something for you if you "dibs" the item?
A day perhaps if you know the owner, else it is sold on a first come, first serve basis.
@riyadh;
So if I now have to chase some guy who put "dibs" on something for two days I'm chasing away guys that actually want the item and prepared to pay and collect it now.

I reckon - If you place dibs - you have 24 hours to either do and EFT or get there with the cash to collect.
If you don't do that then go and sit in the corner for a while and think about what you want to actually buy as you are not serious about buying the stuff in the 1st place.

I for one am sick of having to track the buyers down and plead for cash and collection.....

tagging function

is this the function regarding the @ sign infront of the person's name? I find, just like rakabos's recent for sale section he's on top of his game with this, it's great when a seller does this...

Fair enough that customer gets First preference but it's also fair for the seller to get his sale going. Maybe a standardization on dibs. So maybe a dibs Should lapse after a day unless otherwise stated and agreed to on the thread. I'm new but that would be fair to all.

I hear you.

I forgot to get those water level controllers from you... lol, just need to make time sorry bud.:blush:

I agree with @Quintin and @rakabos, cash is king.

I have had guys asking to reserve the tank as they can only collect in 2 weeks, and out of goodwill keep the tank to be told a day before the 2 week period ends that they are unable to take the tank. Thats now 2 weeks gone where you could of tried to sell the tank, but due to someones incompetence you are still sitting with the item and no buyer 2 weeks down the line.
