I just want to say thanks to @Adee. Where would we be without his passion for the hobby and the amazing sps frags that we all buy from him. Always happy inviting strangers into his house and always happy to give us all advice.

Just a big thx mate!

I will second that motion. I have just come from his place.
What a system, and the frags.
This is one great asset we have in SA.

Well um , thanks Martin...and all you guys!!

I started keeping SPS in the days when, back then, there were those doing the same some 4+ years ago. Everything i started with, was with thumb size frags. Only a pleasure to share, I enjoy the chit chats that follow, both on and off the forums.

Hey guys... I'm abit stuck here.. I'm starting soon with an sps dominated tank as I've also got the sps sickness now.. But knw I'm confused on the part on additives.. I've done a lot of reading and research but cnt get down to the point of what I wana knw.. Do I have to run a kalkwasser and calcium reactor on a sps system..? Or can I dose the pure reef supplements which are calcium iodine and all that? And just test for all the elements and dose as needed? I know they need ulns so afer I've kept a few successfully I'm intending on going the zeovit route.. But for now can I just dose the supplements and keep them as constant as possible?

Ken, people have written books and forums have a million posts that would cover the info you looking for. My "easiest" advice is for you to search the net for TOTM tanks and such, have a look at systems that would suite your size (budget) and try and mimic the reefers husbandry methods right down to what they have in the engine room. However that been said, a crucial part on one success is that you will one day have to understand the the likes of the chemical make up, coral taxonomy and effective husbadry methods for this hobby to be a long terms success.

rather break up your q's into the specific sections within the forum. The short answer is that you have to keep your alk stable, same with ca, ph and a dozen other things. For example how u maintain your alk, could be via CARX, Auto doser or manual daily additions...all achieve the same result.
