What the heck!
Looks like smoke eminating from my big RBTA.
Its clouding up the whole 1000L system.

Corals, clams and fish dont appear too phased though. Skimmer is not over reacting.
Is this anemone perhaps spawning?

im scheming its spawning, if its clouding up the whole system ur skimmer should soon start going made

Yep! Spawning! Do a water change, active skimming, and run fresh carbon! Keep an eye on water parameters and watch for signs of stress in livestock. Be prepared for more water changes...just in case.

Thanks everyone for the input.
Well this morning tank and its inhabitant all look like normal.
Anemone shrunk right down last night, but this morning is back to normal size (It does this from time to time but without spawning)

Out of interest, what would trigger this spawning? Stress, or is it just feeling horny?;)
I know spawning of clams is normally brought on by stress of some sort.

I think stress, watched something on Discovery, said they spawn when stressed to ensure survival of the species in event they were injured or killed, I could be wrong or thinking of something else....still sleepy....

My bubble nenny did the same and yust about a hour after feeding the other day..it rejected the food I gave it...aswell I thought it was the food as I tried some shrimp for the first time...it looked quite scary..I thought he was cooking that shrimp...for a cocktail party..lol. I quikly removed the shrimp and hoped for the best and everything turned out ok...so now I to know what nenny spowning looks like..thanx.

Here is the culprit, back to normal today.

I just wonder what stressed the nennie out?

You may never know. It could have been a slight temperature change, livestock pestering it, slight pH swing. Unless the anemone or tankmates show signs of stress, we don't usually worry about it. Unfortunately, when it comes to anemones, we still don't understand them completely.

In the wild anemone spawning can be triggered by a full moon. ;)
