Something eating my Zoas

Is it not something else in the tank? A crab hidding in your live rock? Have you seen any new snails or slugs since getting them?

If Zoas are unhealthy even Amphipods will eat them....do they like your lighting and flow?

Check for a Sundail snail.
Small wound snail that eat Zoa's

zoa eating spiders, nudis...

One thing Ive learnt is that it seems like practicaly everything eats Zoas....got to be super careful when adding new colonies and liverock from your LFS....

How big is the Regal? Mine has gotten bored in the past and torn up my zoas to the extent there is nothing left...he may also be the culprit.

ive got what looks like a green sea hare but is tiny , i think he is munching on my zoas too. i think i am going to flush him when i get home this afternoon

With a tank full of zoas i can speak from some authority i reckon :p

Things that eat zoas from my experience

  • Foxface - wiped out entire colonies over night until i spotted him doing it one day
  • Blue legged hermits - also saw one of mine doing it, he is now patrolling the sump
  • Zoa eating nudis - If you have these you have one option which is taking out all the zoas and dipping them to get rid of them. They are small but you can clearly see them on the closed polyps an hour or so after lights out. They will wipe your zoas out and can multiply at insane rates
  • Sundials - They are very easy to spot and you can just manually remove them, they dont do lots of damage but will eat colonies to the bone if you dont remove them

Flip I hope it's not eating the frag I gave you? if so then I'll give you another one k!;)
If you find these sundails
