lol I’m not arguing here, I definitely would give first prize (the only prize) for RO water,
But these overseas countries don’t even drink their tap water.... it's only (mostly) used for washing up... SA has one of the top most cleanest drinking quality water..
But it’s no excuse to use it in your marine tank.
Darn I need a RO unit....

i agree, some have argued, that using tap water during cycling was most suited to speed the process.

to each his own... but i sleep good at night knowing i havent added chloromine, copper, lead, doc'c along with bacteria such as e coli and other things to my tank....

Yip, I agree. And to all who said "I have been using tap water since and..." - there is a saying:

"Everything goes right until something goes wrong" - and then, bye bye healthy tank, hello green hair algae

technically we all use tap water it just depends if we put it through a RO filter or now

Quality of tap water depends on location.. Like randwater supposed to be really good but not good enough for our reef tanks. I remember a pic of 1 of our durban members, the guy removed the filters from his ro filter and it was black, and that was like after 6months
