IM using this product to seed my DSB with Pathogenic aerobic and anaerobic microbes which will help with the breakdown process of nitrification, denitrification aswell as organic waste.

I plan to run a Low nutrient system so with this product inturn with carbon and vodka dosing, will cheato survive?:)

I just plan to use this product to Seed and repopulate biocultures when problems occur. But just for intrest, who has used this product and what improvements did it bring?

I use or should I say used MB7, I need to buy more. It's pretty good stuff actually. I used it to bring down my nitrate levels and would mix a bit into my water change water before doing a water change. I've used it with vodka dosing as well and it did the job although there are better products out there for that kind of stuff but I haven't tested them.

The whole point of vodka dosing is to bring down your nutrient levels, if cheato (which thrives on nutrients) is growing, the you're doing something wrong. I love fuges BUT they have no place in a ULNS.

Robert remind me in the morning to give you an expaination on why low nutrient systems, vodka dosing and deep sand beds don't work. I'm way to tired right now to give you a good explanation on it.

The low nutrients will outcompete the chaeto which will slowly die back. I run a system just over a month old with no DSB, very little live rock (mainly base rock) on Prodibio and vodka dosing. I have zero nitrates and 0.03 phosphates. I only have Seachem De-nitrate pebbles running in a zeolite reactor. I do a 15 percent water change once a month

So, in a LNS or ULNS, DSB's are not needed, nor ATS's or refugiums if you are going to use probiotics and carbon dosing

Reading the LNS forum, it should be near impossible to run in such a small water volume. As this is my first Nano, im still thinking of new ideas to get it running and stable. So rethinking:) , my system will proberly be a medium to high nutrient system as the Bioload will be larger compaired to larger systems.

I just want to say, ive been on many sites on the web.. None are like Masa:thumbup: the setup, information and people are just amazing:1:

Im just wondering, For a Nano i am running a huge DSB in a seperate plastic container, its about 40-45 kg of sand... but due to the size of the container the bed is only 11-13 cm in depth. I know this is suitable but is there room for improvement without sacrificing water space?:)

im running purigen as a filtration media but still sceptical about the recharge thing with bleach... will it still function normally after treatment?

Thats what it says on the box:)

This bottle claims to do allot of things, thats why i asked for ur personal reviews:thumbup:

Are you sure it doesnt say non-pathogenic?

Complex system of non-pathogenic aerobic and anaerobic microbes, as well as natural
enzymes, specifically formulated to establish biological filtration in new aquarium set-ups,
and to enhance the rate of nitrification, denitrification, and organic waste degradation in
marine and freshwater aquaria through complete nutrient remineralization.

A second look at the bottle, And yes i see it says non path... But anyway i added it to my setup earlier this morning and the water has become a bit clearer, but ill have to wait and see in a few weeks time:thumbup:

I use purigen, first time I recharged with bleech, but it smelled like bleech for a very long time, so I jsut threw it out, was too sceptical to take a chance.

im also a bit sceptical :tt2: but ive read that u add another product called chlorguard, you soak the newly bleached purigen for 8 hours for marine setups. But if a smell of chlorine is detectable then throw away the product:(

I've recharged my purigen twice, works fine, just clean it properly and follow the directions :) MB7 is the shizzle. Works very well, worth the money IMO.

when i stated up my cube, i put in a full block off frozen brine shrimp and a full block of bloodworms just to get things going, i then added quite a bit of microbacter 7 and also vodca every other day, needless to say i tested today and cant pick up anything at all

If you rinsed it properly then it would have been fine. I sterilize/bleach all my equipment after maintenance before adding back to the tank/sump but is properly rinsed.

Put in either half a prawn or a mussel for 2 days, works everytime :)
