Hey guys

I have decided to build a cube maybe 600mm*600mm*800mm(h). The reason for this size amongst other choices was because i can only cater for that size is in my little place. Also going to have a sump and was thinking about the lighting maybe MH.

Please advise me on the above. Am looking at keeping both fish and corals. Will keep away from the hardy stuff however dont want to limit my self in the future. So if i can accommodate for all types i will go that way.

Please please please ..advise me on anything that you think that will assist me.
Will really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

looks good, but change the height to something like 600, 800 is too high. you will need alot of light to penetrate and also to work in it will be madness

hi there in terms of light u can go either mh or t5 really depends on ur preference i personally would go with 6 T5's 24w. skimmer if u can afford get a bubble blaster 2000 will be great for that tank size and also u will be able to use it if u upgrade. if thats too expensive get the orca internal 100 much better then a ts2. then u can add in a refigium and dsb for ur sump or skip the dsb out and use the n & p biopellets for denitification.
for cal and alk u could use dosing pumps or a carx or dose manually would be det by the corals u keep. i would then say decide on the corals u want to keep and the decide on the pumps u want. ideally an mp40 vortech would be perfect for a tank that size 1 would give u a great wave.

A good exercise before building your tank is to make a cardboard tank and then put it on a stand then see if you can get to every part of the tank .... you never know when you might need to get what inside and then you have a drama!

i had exactly that size tank (800 high) and it was a bugger to work in..

the one i had had a 150w hailide and 2 x 24w blue T5, worked perfectly and corals did well.. one of my mates now has it and is complaining about the depth aswell..

Swt thanks for the advice. Will definitely go with a 650(h). What you think?

man for ease of maintenence id say .650 will be your best friend.. i kept clams in a .700mm deep tank and battled to rescue them when they toppled off of rockwork to the bottom.. so .800 is definatley a no no for me anyway.

so it depends on alot of things..
