Urgent help needed Leather - need help

HI,

I GOT THIS LEATHER FROM A FRIEND WHO GOT IT FROM JACO.

IT IS ABOUT A WEEK THAT I HAVE IT AND IT WAS SULKING SINCE I GOT IT.
IT WAS PACKED IN A BAG WITH AIR FROM 11H30 AND WAS COLLECTED BY ME AT 17H30.

MY OTHER CORALS AND LEATHERS IS DOING OKAY.

IS IT BUSY DYING?

Clown,im not at all sure why ur leather is receeding like that,my one is doin ok,no polyp extension tho.

both mine and ur leathers got shipped from joburg and was bagged for a while,so i dont think its the oxygen issue
 
are there little white blobs on the leather? i recently lost a leather that way, i tried dipping it and everything but nothing helped :( im too scared to ever buy another leather
 
Damn... That doesn't look good at all... The two leathers are sisters, fragged from the mother colony that I still have... They have gone through a few tough "moments" before and have survived all of them just fine... They were in mint condition when they left JHB, and as Maj says, his is doing okey... Is there something that might be eating yours?

What you could try, if all else fails, is to cut off the affected area. Leaters are quite easy to frag, and that might save it. It will grow large again soon... Damn, sorry man, I have never seen a leather do that before.

I kept mine everywhere in the tank, high - low flow, high - low light... So cant really give you advise there... I even had the mother colony in a 2foot with one 24W T5 on, and she extended nicely...

Keep us posted.
 
yip,mine is doin ok tips are slightly white but that happened coz of the power failure i had and the tank was off for like 8 hours.
not sure as to why his peice is fading like that.

Thanx for advise.

I will frag it afterwork and see how it is doing. There is nothing eating it that I can see.
My hermits and shrimps does not eat corals.
I have a boyu tank.with boyu lights.
I got at the top Pink leather finger and in the middle on the side a spagety leather finger and both puff up with there polyps xtended.

I even feed all my coral with coral snow.

Do I just cutt off the effected area with a sharp knive?

not even I know.
All my corals is oky so it cant be my water quality and all my little pets walk over or eat next to each coral and even my glass shrimp like to sit in side my big pink zoas.

I have mini brisle starfish as well.
 
Jip... just cut it. A scissor will also do. Not saying it will work, but it better to try something than just leave it to die I always say.

im going to frans today to collect 2 turbo snails. I will take it with and ask frans as well.
 
Clown, dont take it to frans... Nothing wrong with frans, but if you take it out again, you will just stress it out even more. That will surely kill it. I am certain if you just cut and dip, you will save it, unless it is beyond saving.

But to take it out and "ship" to someone is just going to cause more damage.

I only saw it this morning realy - on my why to work.
Yes. as Jaco and frans say cut then dip.
