New Deltec TC skimmers

IMO I also think the loading of the prices due to monopoly is a huge issue here in SA - @ the moment the R$ can't be much of an excuse.

Hi Nemos the costing of the 2 pump external price that i got 2 months ago is landed in sa at R17000,00 i think a bit much considering you can land a ATB skmmer that is a cone design, and rated for a 1500lt heavy stocked tank for the price of R15000,00

Awesome piece of kit, pity about the price though...

there are definatley cheaper, as effiecient skimmers available in other brands, the sad thing is people fuel the popularity of the item by chasing the name.. this does look like a machine though..

Nice skimmers but shocking afterservice.

I also think the bubble blasters do 2000litres

The Deltec range of skimmers has a VERY niche market in South Africa. It's cost not only limits the LFS's to purchase them - but also limits a BIG percentage of reefkeepers in purchasing these skimmers as well.

I mean - the Deltec AP902, is a VERY slightly bigger skimmer than my Bubble Magus BM-260. (actual physical comparison), with nearly the exact same design (BM knocked off the Deltec).... the AP902 being sold at +-R20000 - where-as I paid R5000 for my BM-260.

This indeed an AWESOME AWESOME range of skimmers. Just so unfortunate that they limit their market so much.

I mean - even those new AWESOME ReefOctopus skimmers seem to produce nearly the same quality of skimmate, than what the Deltec's do - at halve the selling price?

Riyad, I had an AP skimmer a few years back and the recycling pump broke. I had to throw it out because there were no pumps available and replaced it with the RO skimmer. The pump only arrived after six months

the reefocto blaster range is good for 4000lt and very compact and reasonable in price (less than R10000 external) when compared by per litre skimming capacity to most other skimmers. Deltec is a awsome skimmer that is very highly rated overseas but i doubt many in this country will be able to afford it by simply buying it off the shelf.. a large percentage of these skimmers do their cycle in the second hand market before they settle down to gettting to work..

That is just nasty...

jacquesb so the reefOtopus skimmers are on par with the Deltec skimmers?

I would put the New Reef Octo Bubble blaster over any current Deltec of similar size that I've ever seen.

2000l per hour for just 40watts of power, thats awesome.:p Only R9600 for the external and R6600 or so for the internal.

I don't know about the new Deltecs, they look fantastic, and I'm sure they will work like a bomb.

I very much doubt if they will offer anything like the value though.:)

Because the design is different. and the skimmer recirculates the water. All internal skimmers are cheaper then external that i have seen in SA.
