Hi, I bought a tree about 4 weeks ago and at first it was doing very well. Inflating all the way and was looking stunning. Now it looks very sad and is just deflated. Tried to move tree a bit higher for more light but this seems to do nothing.

I need your help please.

Here is my current tank setup.(Tank about 1 year, 2 months old)

Total volume +- 280L with sump.
Lights 4 X 36W T5 (2xblue, 2xwhite) Main Display (3 months old)
1 X 56W T8 Blue. Main Display (no idea how old)

Sump lights 3 x 20W Phillips energy Savers. (2-3 months old)

Running Activated Carbon in a small canister filter. (500l per hour)

Display lights runs for 7 hours a day with sump lights off.
Sump lights runs durning the night for 7 hours.

Pumps.

Waterflow from main display to sump and back is +- 4000l per hour.
Waterflow in main display tank is +- 6000l per hour. (4 power heads)

Water.

Phosphates 0.5
Nitrate 0.1
nitrite 0.2
PH 8.2
Alk 2.8
Magnesium 1200
Calsium 420
NH4 normal.

One more thing the tree was near a nennie. Can the Nennie sting it and do any harm to the tree.

Thanks guys.

Hi Theo -leave the kenya tree. They do that sometimes. Don't move it, you will just stress the coral out. Let it be. In 3 to 5 days it will be it's former self again.

Just do a water change over the weekend again.

Good luck, and enjoy.

yes a bit low

yes my nennie stung my kenya tree .....its not a prity sight

Tree has been looking like this for the past 6 days now. Did a 25l water change last night with a higher SG. The SG levels are now 1.023. Will do a nother water change tonight to get SG to 1.024 - 1.025.

Did your tree make it after the nennie attack?

Theoholder,

there is always going to be some sort of chemical warefare in your tank.

softies are incredibly hardy, i have heard of and see softies sulk for much longer that 6 days.... so dont stress...... everytime you more him you will stress him out..... put it in medium to low flow and not too close to the lights and just leave him alone for a while.... i am sure he will pull through!

I have done another water change last night and the sg levels r now 1.025.
The tree inflates a bit better now, but still not all the way. There is some sort of slime on it. Do they do this or do I need to warry?

Hi theo dont stress my tree sulked for two weeks - we rearranged the tank slightly and this tree is worse than a small kid - did not know they could sulk like that.

Just let it be!

Hi,

I also got a Kenya two, three days back. Was also not looking very happy and I found a crab very similar to this eating away at the Kenya. I was lucky enough to catch it as it is very small and placed it in my DSB. After that the tree has been looking much better.
