Hi
I want to attempt to make some baserock. I've read through a few articles and well let's see if it's going to work

I went to builders warehouse yesterday (in rustenburg) , to buy white cement, and according to them they don't sell it anymore. This is also the info i got from a Builders in krugersdorp
The problem is I live in lichtenburg, so won't be able to go the a builders again soon?
Does white cement go by another name maybe?
Is there something else I can use? What about polyfilla exterior crack filler?

Thanks
Lemar

Imo polyfilla will dissolve, why not use portland cement(ordinary cement)? Cheaper and widely available.

Lemar i used normal cement for my rock with lots of salt in it
( grad 2) witch you can buy at agri shop

You can't use filler as it will just dissolve in the water, that stuff is just made from rino light or one of those products. Suggest you do some phoning rather than driving.
I know what you are going though, now days if shops don't have it in stock they don't sell it. What happened to customer service.

Yes, obviously customer service is not really a priority anymore.
Will try and get hold of some portland cement

i got from local mica hardware they did not stock it but managed to order it for me

Try phone the guys who do swimming pool installations and repairs. They are the main users of white cement.

White cement is the the bomb I have been using it for a while now very happy its akl is lower the the grey I use cis Portland cement from Turkey. just ask your pool company's in your area.

I've seen White Cement at Builders Warehouse.

can"t we use tile cement.

I'd be reluctant to use any product with unknown ingredients. Some of the tile cements have anti-fungals.

cement is made from lime stone. lime stone is fossilized coral reefs

Its got other stuff in it as well such as gypsum and sulphur. And tile cement is not ordinary cement, there are other additives.

Didnt the rocks come out grey?

I’ve used grey cement, mixed it with crushed oyster shells (no salt). It came out grey but because it’s base rock I didn’t really mind. Was very porous but I eventually took them out and replaced it with live rock when I had the money . IMO too much of a slept to make because of the curing
