I think that lowering the pH very slowly should also achieve the objective..... ie, dosing some acid.... I would suggest lemon juice, as vinegar MIGHT just cause cyano bacteria to bloom....

Not to disagree, Jacques, But Kalk is safer. 3 weeks ago I had Alk of 20 dkh, dropped it to 8 within a week just by dosing kalk.

ok what is the result/side effects of high/low alkalinity. besides the effect on calcium levels?

The house of cards. Having such high Alk is not wise. It is not easy to sustain and when it goes wrong it is going hurt. IMO

Just stop adding any buffers and it`ll come down on its own, probably within a week or so.
