Hi there.

Newby question;

What, when and how often should / could I feed my soft corals, if at all necessary?

I do currently have a few fish in the tank as well.

Once a week you can feed aquavitro fuel with zoo plankton and every other week marine snow. Did it like this and had great growth

Next time you order let us send you some live phytoplankton and zooplankton your reef will love you for it. Culture them there by you for a constant supply

When adding fuel do you switch off your skimmer? always wondered if it was just being skimmed out the water?

Will zooplankton and phytoplankton even vitamens be effective is put in the sump? Or must these be put directly into the tank?

@Uysster
with such a young tank and not a lot of softies, you really do not have to focus that hard on feeding them. The fish poop would almost be enough. But you can feed the softies. But be carful not to overfeed. I would go with half of what the bottle state, until at least you got enough softies to consume what you add to the system.

Check also some of those feeding supplements. They specify a proper effective skimmer. That is why I do not use it on my son's TL550.

I tend to agree with your post the most, @RiaanP.
That is why I mentioned there's a few fish in as well.

On the feeding topic, I'm feeding Ocean Nutrition's marine mix and their formula 1 sinking pellets, alternating between the two, every second day.

- Is this ok, or should I be feeding more often?

- Also, the pellets are sinking way too quick to my liking. I can see the fish I have prefers feeding throughout the water column in the middle, but they tend to not eat from the surface of the water nor from the bottom.
Since these pellets sink very quickly, a lot just falls to the bottom.
Any solution to this or is this normal and I should just let it be?

feed less sinking pellets, must be consumed before it hits the bottom and get lost within the substrate. If you got hermits, they can have the leftovers.

Then feed the marine mix. So rather give both each day, but less of each.

The marine mix are these small frozen blocks. So one such a block each day?
There's currently 10x mixed fish species.

Luckily the 1 cleaner shrimp also chows the pellets / food on the substrate.

sorry, rather not the froxen blocks. Get some flake food.
Ocean Nutritiun got like 5 diffferent flavours.

Interesting clip about feeding your tank as a whole even coral.

I feed my tank frozen mysis, marine mix, cyclops & peas, yes peas blanched & pealed mainly for the tangs but everyone joins the feeding frenzy

So do I refrain from feeding the frozen food as a whole or maby stick to the every second day?

Eish... I bought the pellets as 400g... It'll last me a lifetime...
I'll see sometime if I can buy flakes somewhere.
I'm a fan of ocean nutrition's products... good quality

Frozen food is ok to use just thaw it & rinse the food before soaking in amino's & vitamins...
