@Hails and I have decided the time has come to upgrade our frag tank.

The old system was comprised of a 3 ft tank 70 cm deep and a 90cm x 90cm sump. the wood was rotting, paint flaking into the tank and generally dirty.

It had server us well and was reasonably cheap as most of the frag system was all Diy.

the proposed Frag tank will be a 1.2m x 1.5m L shaped frag tank that is 600mm wide. Made from 10mm glass, with black silicone high of glass 420mm water at 380mm

Here is a picture of what we are thinking of.

And so it begins, awesome. :) I see polystyrene but no wood? Why no wood? Where's the wood?

Glass has been ordered from Rene Turck, all big pannels will be bpar. I have the Den Braven Black silicone ready and waiting. also have the 90degree clamps ready and waiting.

I will be implementing a simple slimline overflow with dual 50mm holes and a 32mm return line.

For lighting i am leaning towards a mix of DIY led's and T5 lighting.

Flow the tank will utilize a gyre style flow pattern, just a few well placed pumps toget the water moving. For power outages only the return pump will be on a battery back-up.

Filtration will be simple, live rock in the sump with a TS2 skimmer and Orca bio cubes.

Supplementation will be done via a doser if needed.

got some more work done. Skinny overflow installed. Thanks to @dallasg for his assistance in drilling the tank. Now we wait until everything is dry and do a water test.

The most challenging part of this build was the kalking gun that kept giving up the ghost.
