Who has got a feeding tube system to feed fish or corals. Care to share.:thumbup:
Yup want to see who feeds by feeding tube and how often. Systems used and automation.

I am sure many innovation will come to the fore.

Yup Steven that counts.

I am more looking into the feeding of tanks where More frequent feeding is required. Or tanks that are high and difficult to feed. Or tanks where specific areas need to be frequently fed.
 
I'm keen to hear more about your idea, I like the idea of culturing and feeding live food perpetually.
I would imagine it would help with the more placid eating species such as mandarin etc
 
This is a thread that I thought @RiaanP would have jumped all over with his sketch up ideals. :m23: sadly not....

For those that do not know what a feeding tube is. it is a method to feed your tank without opening the tank hood and is easy for the nonreefer or temporary tank minder to feed you precious tank inhabitants.

Instead of tipping the tanks feeding requirements from a jar or container into the top of the excited fish gasping for a piece of your offering, the contents are are slowly released through the return feed pump.

This return feed pump from your sump could be the supply of foods to various areas to your tank.

Come no creative guys, let's see how you preceive a feeding tube. How you'll you set up a feeding tube system.

This part will not work in my system. Tank at 3.2m. Return at the right side, overflow box on the left. That would mean that most food entering will directly be blasted around on the one side of the tank. Heavier particles will sink there. It depends if it enters the system at the moment when the MP40 sitting under the return is on full blast or not.

It will lessen the amount of food drifting on top of the water flushing down the overflow.
 
Riaan am I understanding that the return is just just doing what you said. If your return is not dispersing "flow" through the tank then it is not mixing the water returned efficiently.

Maybe I misunderstood what you are saying.

The concept is that returns are planed correctly.

Return is in the right back corner, above a MP40. I do not rely on the return to act as a powerhead. But as the water enters on one side, and exit on the other, I do believe I do end up with the water efficiently mixed. So not for me.

The concept can work as well in systems with a closed canopy or the canopy is to heavy for your wife to lift.
 
Yes Riaan. It will most sertanely highlight any inefficiencies in return and circulation. Not only from a feeding point of view. Depends where one doses alkalinity and other additives.

It can also assist in target feeding.
