I do underwater photography and also know alot of people involved in this hobby so I thought I would start a thread with images that reefers might enjoy. Will post images as I get them. All welcome to post images here.

Are you shooting in the water or through the glass? Interested to find out how you set up your lighting. Ring flash on the outside by any chance?

Hi @Gareth0508

All these images are taken in the ocean. I have taken a few in my tank with a macro lens and use an external flash above the water with a remote trigger to fire the flash.

Awesome dude! Do you have specialised housings for your lighting when in the ocean?
I've been pricing some housings for my camera and they are insanely expensive!

Yeah, specialized housing and strobes for underwater. I currently house a Nikon D300s underwater and a wide angle setup would look like this

Unfortunately it is very expensive to get stared like most hobbies these days ;-)

this is a picture i took with my cellphone camera so the quality will not be all that amazing but i think it still looks cool

what would be a cheap alternative to my cellphone camera that can take nice pictures under the royal blue LED lights and still the corals should have the colors i see with my eyes ... with my phone camera it doesnt happen and most of the time the pictures just come out very dark

I'll trade you some frags for your setup… :whistling:
Ill stick to my "through the glass" setup for now!

Cheap? Whats that?? :tt2:
The problem with phone cameras, or any point and shoot for that matter, is the inability to adjust white balance, exposure and aperture etc. This effects photos greatly! Although I have seen a few pics taken with point and shoot that came out pretty decent!
