hi guys,

I am hoping you can help. I am having a problem keeping my tank at 26 degrees. Its still cycling so i want to get the temperature issue sorted before i stock. My heater is in the last compartment, same compartment as the return and my heater is set to 30 degrees but the tank only reaches 24.5 at the most at the moment, so after monitoring it for a while it looks like the last compartment reaches the correct temp so the heater switches off but the tank is still a couple degrees to low. i am running a Eheim Compact 1000 at full tilt. so 1000 Liters per hour. i am not sure what else to do.

Please help :peroni:

thanks in advance guys!:peroni:

When I had my TL550 i found that the heater worked better in the first compartment.

@ TitanSti, i was thinking of moving it to the first compartment but i havent any space. My setup is in order from 1st to last compartment:

  • Sponge with Filter Wool
  • Tunze 9004 POC Skimmer
  • Nuvo Reactor, Matrix, Purigen
  • return and Heater

I would remove the sponge and filter wool from forst chamber...i never ran it in my tank...just a mission too keep clean...

Place skimmer in first chamber...then nuvo reactor...then heater....then return...

Or place heater in first chamber instead of wool and sponge...but it will be fine in 3rd chamber....in the last chamber the water doesnt make contact with the heater long enough to control properly...

Does the skimmer fit into the first chamber. If yes, and you can still close the lid, then yes move the skimmer to first chamber and heater in second.

I do not like the heater in the last chamber. Water evaporation would leave the thermostat part exposed at times, resulting in fluctuations. Rather have the heater in a chamber where the water level will always stay the same.
