Hello guys
Ive bought a tank and want to start a tropical reef tank but there are a couple if questions i need to ask
1: when placing rocks,do i put them directly on the glass base or on the sand?
2: i have heard that you can use sand from Flatrock near me in port elizabeth, does this sand qualify as live sand?and can you find live rock there too with out defacing or chiseling?
There are a lot more questions, but these are the most urgent because i want to start the cycle process.i have a Boyu T-450
Thanx in advance guys

Straight on the glass is ok, but a high risk of chipping or cracking. Rather consider an inbetween to absorb any shock.

You can always place some egg grate on the bottom of your tank, helps distribute your rock weight a little better.
Read the links on the bottom of @TaahirS's signatures, I also have a few links you can follow.
I PERSONALLY WOULD NOT USE SAND FROM OUR SHORES, NOT SURE WHAT POLLUTANTS HAVE GOT TO IT. if you do, then wash it thoroughly, rather be safe than sorry.

Don't do things fast in reefing, the fun lies in the anticipation of striving for a great looking tank, for healthy living organisms.
HAVE FUN!!!!
Again, welcome to a great forum with much knowledge.
